Issue Position: Healthcare and the Economy

Issue Position

I am a passionate advocate for hard working Virginians and their families to have access to the health care they need and deserve. I want to decrease the cost Virginians pay for their prescription drugs. It's wrong for anyone to be forced to choose between food and life saving medications. I understand that if we can fix the way we pay for healthcare, by focusing on prevention, it can have a powerful impact on Virginia families and on our economy.

I know that the current minimum wage is nowhere close to a livable wage. Virginia's minimum wage has not been raised in ten years. Right now it's $7.25 an hour, identical to the federal minimum wage. Richmond can do better than Washington. Nobody with a full-time job should be that close to poverty.
